From the Jump Force HQ, which acts as your freely-explorable hub, you go out on missions, pick up quests, and upgrade your abilities. Jump Force was a Japanese crossover fighting game developed by Spike Chunsoft and published. You play as your own custom character, and in very Dragon Ball XenoVerse fashion, you team up with an organisation (named Jump Force, of course) that comprises of heroes from throughout Jump history in order to save the world. The same could be said of the story, although as we've established, 'flashiness' isn't the right word to use when the game looks this confused. On the other, the story is unoriginal with too many loading screens and weak scenes. On the one hand, it comes with a great cast of characters that bring together the best Shnen Jump manga combined with a spectacular combat system that will delight fans. Once you're past the surface-level flashiness, it all gets just a bit repetitive. Jump Force is a game with some good and bad aspects.

But it’s not long before things just feel off. Game for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, the video game was released on The version for Nintendo Switch came. The opening scenes, as well as select cutscenes later in the game, are fully voiced (in Japanese, by the anime’s voice cast it would seem, judging by the DBZ characters) and feature over the top action and effects.

It's not difficult to figure out how the most damaging combos work and put them into practice, and even though each character comes with their own unique special moves, they generally play with the same rhythm and flow. Unfortunately, while the roster is large, characters often come off as poor imitations. That's not necessarily a bad thing for an accessible fighter like this, but it does mean that the gameplay loses a lot of its lustre after a while. For this reviewer, I cannot shake how revelatory this would have been a few years ago as someone who still gets a little sad anyone mentions Asuma Sarutobi or that heartfelt coda after the (maligned by most of the fan base) Dragon Ball GT.Again, though, there's no obvious depth to the combat in Jump Force. For some players, there is no wish you could make that would excuse some of the slowdown and graphical fidelity when the fists start flying.

However, compromises have to be made to fit this game into its portable form. There's still a sort of bewilderment for older gamers at getting a console version of a game that can be taken on the go and getting in a quick 3v3 match on public transport or a flight still feels a little like magic. For those used to other console experiences, visual standards for games have increased for good and bad. 2017 might have only been three years ago, but a lot can change in that small amount of time. Even 3D Dragon Ball Z games have suffered, and the Naruto ones, (which Jump Force takes a lot from,) arent much better. Some of these issues are due to where the Switch is in its lifespan. Though, unlike some of that iconic animation, the game isn't exactly visually striking. You link together attacks and charge energy blasts just like your favorite anime. Jump Force is a fighting game that takes a view over the shoulder of your chosen fighter.
